Secondly, we revisit the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), a topic that we last covered in our April 2023 edition of this publication in an interview with Dr. George Elombi (Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Afreximbank), and examine in particular the recently adopted Protocol on Investment that has been developed to both facilitate and protect investments in intra-African trade and will lead the way for the implementation of streamlined clear and transparent rules and mechanisms allowing financial and development finance institutions to more seamlessly support cross-border investment.
Our third article in this edition provides an overview of recent developments in transition finance from both a market and regulatory perspective by examining some of the risks and challenges facing both borrowers and lenders. It also considers what governments and regulators are doing and what more they could be doing to support the development of the transition finance market.
