On 17 April 2023, Argentina became the 23rd country to ratify Convention 108+, which aims to protect the privacy of individuals against possible abuses in the processing of their personal data.

Argentina ratified Convention 108+ during the Privacy 2023 Symposium held in Venice between 17 and 21 April. During the opening ceremony, which included a program dedicated to Convention 108+, Director of the Access to Public Information Agency Beatriz de Anchorena deposited the ratification documents in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Bjørn Berge.
Argentina's ratification helps bring it closer to the number of states required (i.e., 38) for Convention 108+ to enter into force on 11 October 2023.
