Welcome to the October edition of Nexus, the monthly publication from Baker McKenzie's UK Japan Connect. If you missed on any of our earlier editions, you can read them here.
This month our focus is on all things employment. On the UK side, we speak to Baker McKenzie's London Employment team about anticipated changes to UK employment law and outline the new Electronic Travel Authorisation that will affect all Japanese visitors to the UK from 2025. For Japan, we take a look at the changes to the registration process for foreign lawyers, following recommendations from the UK's Law Society.
We are also very proud to make two big announcements. The first is that we will be formally launching the Japan-side of UK Japan Connect at the British Embassy in Tokyo on 29 January 2025.
