Highlights this month include two pieces from our Disputes teams in Tokyo and London. First, Dominic Sharman - Partner in the Dispute Resolution Team in Tokyo and our Deputy Chair - shares his insights on the differences between litigation in the courts of England & Wales and Japan, and where both may have advantages for parties. Second, Kate Corby – Partner in the Dispute Resolution Team in London – explores regulations in the UK and the EU related to products and how these may impact Japanese manufacturers and brands.
This Disputes-led edition of Nexus coincides with the publication of Baker McKenzie's Global Disputes Forecast 2025, a report which shares our findings on the issues most likely to give rise to legal disputes this year according to our global survey of over 600 senior lawyers.
This month we also share insights into the UK's entrance into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), as well as some highlights from the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) New Year Reception and our recently-published article on supporting asset management for entry into the Japan market.
