United Kingdom: Coronavirus (COVID-19) update to international travel rules

In brief

The rules for international travelers arriving in England will change from 4am on Friday 11 February. The changes affect both those who qualify as fully vaccinated and those who are not fully vaccinated.

Travelers arriving in England before 4am on Friday 11 February must still follow the current rules, as set out by the Home Office guidance.

Fully vaccinated travelers

Travelers arriving in England after 4am on Friday 11 February must follow the below rules:

Travelers who qualify as fully vaccinated will have to:

  • complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before arrival in England
  • will no longer be required to take a COVID-19 test before travelling to England or after arrival
  • after arriving in the UK: quarantine is not required after arrival

Travelers who do not qualify as fully vaccinated will have to:

  • complete a passenger locator form – to be completed in the 48 hours before arrival in England
  • book and pay for a COVID-19 PCR test – to be taken after arrival in England. The PCR test will need to be booked prior to travelling
  • must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test – this test to be taken in the 2 days before travelling to England
  • after arriving in the UK: quarantine is not required, unless the PCR test result is positive
