In recent days, the coordinator of the Health Commission of the Permanent Conference for Relations between the State, Regions and Autonomous Provinces announced his intention to ask the Ministry of Health to set up a technical panel bringing together also Regions and industry associations to discuss the issue of the payback on medical devices.
Such a request, to be formally approved within the Health Commission, follows the two joint letters dated 4 October and 21 October 2024, that six of the main industry associations addressed to the Minister of Health, the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, the Minister of Economy and Finance, and the President of the Permanent Conference of Regions stressing the urgency of convening a technical panel to discuss the removal of the payback system for medical devices from the next budget law.
In the aforementioned letters, the six associations reaffirmed "their willingness to work together and with the government for the sustainability of the public health system identifying a necessary and urgent governance project, which also addresses the issue of the 0.75 contribution".
Meanwhile, litigation concerning the two levies on the medical device industry continues. The hearing before the Administrative Court on the merits of some pilot proceedings concerning the 0.75 percent levy is set for 2 December, while the first decisions of the same Administrative Court concerning the payback are expected in early 2025.
