IP Search

The MIPD has issued two Journals — TM/2024/01 and TM/2024/02 — publishing the marks that had passed the examination stage for opposition purposes. For more information, please refer to our newsletter on trademark publication and oppositions. The published marks can now be searched through the IP Search on the MIPD website at www.ipd.gov.mm and the ASEAN IP Register at www.aseanip.org. The information provided through this IP Search includes the description or image of the mark, application number, application date, classes  and specifications claimed and the applicant of the mark.

Key Takeaways

Trade Marks will be granted registration 60 days after the publication date. It is important to monitor the marks published by the MIPD to ensure that you are aware of any marks being applied for that are potentially similar to your brands. Brand owners may then decide whether to take any action, such as to proceed with filing an opposition action.

We are able to assist with monitoring publications, advising on the chances of success of an opposition, preparing and filing an opposition action, or defending against opposition actions. Please reach out if you have any questions, and we would be delighted to assist.

To learn more about these issues and how they affect you, reach out to your usual Baker McKenzie contact.

We will continue to monitor these developments closely. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact any member of our team.
