Singapore: WIPO-ASEAN Mediation Programme (AMP+) extended for 2025

In brief

The WIPO-ASEAN Mediation Programme (AMP+) allows nationals or entities from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to obtain funding for mediations administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center's Office in Singapore, to resolve any existing IP or technology disputes or negotiations.

Parties may apply for funding under AMP+ from 23 January 2025 to 31 December 2025, or until the AMP+ fund is drawn down, whichever is earlier.

In more detail

As part of the collaboration between the government of Singapore and the WIPO, ASEAN parties can benefit from the AMP+ programme, which offers funding for mediations administered by the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center's Office in Singapore.

Previous iterations of the AMP+ programme have proven successful, with past IPOS cases having been successfully resolved through mediation administered under the earlier AMP programme.

Parties must meet certain criteria to be eligible for AMP+ (e.g., having at least one party that is an ASEAN national or entity; consenting to be named publicly; and ensuring the mediator is based in an ASEAN member state).

For more details on the AMP+ programme, you may refer to our client alert from July 2023 which covers the AMP programme.

Key takeaways

The AMP+ programme can be an effective dispute resolution option for parties to resolve IP and technology disputes amicably through mediation, and parties can take advantage of available funding.
