Argentina: Mining in Salta — Update of the fees for mining procedures

Law No. 8419 — General Resolution No. 18/2023

In brief

On 30 January 2024, Law No. 8419 ("Law") was published in the official gazette of Salta, which updated the fees for mining procedures in the province.

The Law modifies Article 29, paragraph 3 of Law No. 6611, which refers to the fees to be paid to the mining courts and the Mining and Energy Secretariat. The fees are calculated according to the number of tax units (UTs) involved in each procedure.

This measure has a direct impact on the cost of mining procedures, as detailed below.

In addition, through General Resolution No. 18/2023 issued by the General Revenue Office of Salta, the value of the UT applicable for 2024 was updated, as happens annually. It went from ARS 11 in 2023 to ARS 33 for the current year.
